Since we started doing our own style of guest signature books, everyone has raved about them non-stop!

This is the most recent book we did for Britney and Quinton’s Wedding.   We took the images from their engagement session and designed the pages similar to an album.  The pages lay flat, which allows for a panoramic spread.  We then mount the pages in an Italian leather cover.  Your wedding guest then sign the book much like they would a yearbook.  No more guest books with 5 pages of signatures followed by 20 blank pages!!!  Instead, you get a truly unique keepsake!

Here are a few of my favorite spreads from the book.  I took some photos of the book after it was signed, and I will post them soon as well.

This is sort-of an artistic retro look, you either love it or hate it, but it worked for this particular couple!

Todd & Minella are getting married May 9th at Cole’s Gardens.  They are a great couple and compliment each other niceley.  We’re looking forward to the wedding!

Meet Sydney & Wade.  They are getting married on May 23rd…. and they are definitely a couple made for each other.  Wade is in the Army and Syd is a student at OSU.  I hear stories of shotguns at this wedding, so I’m looking forward to an interesting day of shooting!

Wedding Engagement Shoot

Stu & Shell are a truly nice couple.  A real pleasure to shoot to say the least.  They have a June wedding coming up at Cole’s Gardens.  Here are a few of my fav’s from their engagement shoot:

I am often asked a lot of questions regarding preparation for engagement shoots.

Engagement sessions are a great way to get to know me. It helps out a lot on the wedding day if you already know me and my style and how I interact with the two of you. Plus if you know me, and I know you, you’ll be a lot more comfortable around me on your wedding day, and I can get images that better show your personalities and relationship.

Suggestions on what to wear:

• Wear something you are comfortable in. If you’re not comfortable, it will show in the pictures.
• It’s best not to wear tight jeans or other clothes that are overly tight and restrict movement. Or show curves you don’t want shown.
• Wear something you love, and make sure it’s ‘you’. It’s best not to wear something you are going to wish you didn’t wear in a few weeks.
• A touch dressier than a normal night can be fun, just make sure it’s still you.
• Wear clothes that are complementary in style and color. Don’t be too “matchy”. For example, you could both wear fall colors or both wear different shades of blue.
• Wear clothes that are the same level of dressiness. Don’t dress up and have your fiance wear their everyday street clothes.
• Have the clothes match the season and venue for the shoot. Shorts and flip flops probably are not the best on a cold day (this goes back to being comfortable, if you are not warm it’s harder to look warm and happy)
• Darker colors can be slimming, and they are also easier to photograph. But, if you have something in white or off white, don’t be afraid to wear it.  Unless you are trying to achieve a very formal look, i recommend not wearing solid black.
• Patterns go out of style quickly, and the background usually has enough texture that patterns can sometimes make the photos too busy.
• Wear long sleeves if you can.  Cap sleeves are trendy and will go out of style.  they also can make your arms look awkward in photographs.
• Wear shoes you love.
• Wear shoes you can comfortably walk in. If I’m your photographer we usually walk a fair bit.
• Bring a brush and make-up for touch-ups.  Oklahoma wind is very unpredictable, and can ruin a great hairstyle.  You will also be posing and cuddling, which can mess up your make-up, it’s best to be prepared for this.
• If you want to have your dog in some of the photos, that’s great.  But, it would be best to have a friend come along to watch him/her while we are taking other shots.

Other Things to Remember:

• Plan on having a good time. Think of it more like a date, and less of smiling to the camera.
• Dont be afraid to be sentimental, if there is a certain object, pair of jeans, locket, etc. that is important to you, let me know so we can include it.
• The best time for photos is in the evening when the light is soft, and we have the chance of getting a sunset.
• If there is something you want me to avoid photographing it helps if you let me know.  That way I can work with you to keep the scar, tattoo, part in your hair, or whatever you want me to keep out of the pictures out.
